Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Housekeeping Company

Before hiring a housekeeping company in Bangalore, ask how staff are verified, what the scope includes, who supplies materials and machines, whether shifts are possible, how leave is covered, what the written quotation contains and who handles statutory paperwork. Choose on these answers, not one number.

Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Housekeeping Company

Choosing a housekeeping company is easier when you know what to ask. A short conversation can reveal whether a company is organised, honest about what it can do and ready to support your office when something changes. Here are the questions that matter most, grouped by theme, along with what a good answer sounds like.

About the people

1. How do you verify your housekeeping staff?

A good answer explains that identity, address and references are checked before placement. Ask when the checks happen, and whether the company will tell you if any check is pending.

2. How are staff trained?

Ask what training the team receives for tasks such as washroom sanitisation, floor care and handling cleaning products. Ask whether staff are briefed on your specific office before they start.

3. Will I get the same people, or will they change often?

Some rotation is normal, especially during leave. What matters is that the company introduces any new person and briefs them on your routine.

About the scope of work

4. What exactly is included?

Typical office housekeeping includes sweeping and mopping, dusting of desks and furniture, washroom cleaning and sanitisation, glass and partition wiping, dustbin emptying and pantry and common area cleaning. Ask for the list in writing, and ask what is excluded.

5. Do you provide cleaning materials and machines?

The honest answer is that it depends on the agreed scope. Ask who supplies materials, machines and washroom consumables, and make sure it is written in your quotation.

6. Is deep cleaning part of the arrangement?

If you want periodic deep cleaning, ask whether it is included in the scope or handled separately, and how it is scheduled.

About timing and cover

7. Can the team work in shifts?

Many offices prefer a morning team that finishes before staff arrive, while others want day-long presence. Ask what shift patterns are possible for your office.

8. What happens when someone is on leave?

A reliable company arranges a replacement. Ask how quickly, who informs you and whether the replacement is briefed on your duties.

9. What is your minimum team size?

Many companies, including Vucare, have a minimum team size. At Vucare it is two staff per location. A team of two keeps cleaning going when one person is away.

About contract and paperwork

10. What does the written quotation include?

Look for the duties, hours, number of staff, contract period and exclusions. Pricing should be explained to you and confirmed in writing before you commit.

11. Who handles statutory paperwork?

Ask whether the company manages the statutory compliance that applies to its staff, so your admin team does not need to.

12. How do I raise a problem, and who responds?

Ask for a named contact and a clear way to reach them. Find out whether the company is available by phone and WhatsApp and how quickly it responds. Pay attention to how responsive the company is during the sales conversation, since this is usually a good preview.

Red flags

  • The company will not explain how it verifies staff.
  • Terms are vague or only given verbally.
  • A quotation arrives before anyone has asked about your office.
  • There is no clear replacement arrangement.
  • The company cannot say who your point of contact will be.

Putting it together

You do not need to ask every question on the first call, but you should have clear answers on verification, scope, materials, shifts, replacement and paperwork before you sign. Share your own office housekeeping checklist so the company can match the scope to what you need.
